MPD Sets Weekend Juvenile Curfew Zone in U Street Corridor

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department announced a temporary Juvenile Curfew Zone in the U Street corridor for Friday and Saturday nights, setting special restrictions for large youth gatherings inside a defined Northwest area.

MPD said the zone is authorized under Mayor’s Order 2026-091, which allows the police chief to designate a Juvenile Curfew Zone for an area at risk for disorderly conduct by youth. The department said the rule applies to groups of at least nine people under 18.

The zone’s northern boundary runs along V Street from 15th Street to Vermont Avenue NW, then along Vermont Avenue to Florida Avenue NW, Florida Avenue to Sherman Avenue NW, Sherman Avenue to Barry Place NW, and Barry Place to Georgia Avenue NW.

MPD listed the eastern boundary as 7th Street from T Street to Florida Avenue NW and Georgia Avenue from Florida Avenue to Barry Place NW. The southern boundary is T Street from 15th Street to 7th Street NW, and the western boundary is 15th Street from V Street to T Street NW.

The special curfew zone is in effect from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, 2026. During those hours, persons under 18 are prohibited from gathering in groups of nine or more in public places or on the premises of establishments within the zone unless an exemption applies.

MPD also reminded residents that the citywide juvenile curfew remains in effect for all juveniles under 18 beginning nightly at 11 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. the following morning.
