WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of taking money from a cash register during a burglary at a Rhode Island Avenue business.
Fifth District officers responded at approximately 4:45 a.m. on August 24 after receiving a report of a burglary at an establishment in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, according to an MPD release issued Wednesday.
Police said the suspect entered the business, took money from a cash register and fled before officers arrived. MPD published surveillance images of the person sought in the investigation.
The release describes the establishment as being in Northeast Washington but lists the address as the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue NW. The Washington Herald has retained the block and street information while noting that discrepancy.
Anyone who can identify the suspect or has information about the incident is asked not to take action, but to call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD said it offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in a District crime. The case number is 26121121.
