WASHINGTON, D.C. — The DC Bike Ride is bringing extensive street closures and emergency no-parking restrictions to downtown Washington and areas near the National Mall on Saturday, September 12, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Restrictions affect major corridors including Pennsylvania Avenue, Constitution Avenue, Independence Avenue, 14th Street, 23rd Street, Arlington Memorial Bridge, Rock Creek Drive, the Potomac River Freeway and the Whitehurst Freeway. Some closures that began early Saturday are scheduled to remain in place until midnight, while the event area around Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd and 7th streets is scheduled to remain closed through 5 p.m.
MPD said portions of Constitution Avenue and nearby north-south streets were scheduled to be closed until 11 a.m. Other route segments—including 14th Street toward the 14th Street Bridge, Independence Avenue, 23rd Street, Arlington Memorial Bridge and roads along the Potomac—are subject to longer closures.
Drivers should expect delays, follow posted emergency no-parking signs and consider alternate routes. Vehicles parked in violation of temporary restrictions may be ticketed and towed, and closure times can change based on conditions.
