WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects accused of assaulting a person in Southeast Washington after demanding property.
Police said the incident happened at approximately 4:33 p.m. Monday, July 20, in the 500 block of Malcolm X Avenue SE. According to MPD, two suspects approached the victim and asked for property.
When the victim refused, the suspects allegedly assaulted the person and struck them with an unknown object. The victim lost consciousness, and the suspects left before officers arrived. Emergency responders took the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
MPD said nearby surveillance cameras captured one of the suspects. Police advised anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the assault not to take action, but to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. The department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in a District crime.
