WASHINGTON, D.C. — The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission is seeking public comments on 17 applicants being considered for two pending vacancies on the D.C. Superior Court.
The vacancies result from the expiration of Judge John F. McCabe Jr.’s term and the resignation of Judge James A. Crowell IV. The commission plans to submit three applicants to the president for consideration for each vacancy.
The applicants are Magdalena A. Acevedo, Andrew L. Ain, Niquelle M. Allen, Brian W. Amy Jr., Angela N. Buckner, Alexandre M. Dempsey, Linden A. Fry, Alexis Morgan Gardner, Alissa B. Kempler, Judge Pavan S. Krishnamurthy, Alicia M. Long, Judge John W. Lui, Judge Philip A. Medley, Michael B. Redmann, Judge David N. Richter, Julie M. Wilson and Jeffrey A. Wojcik.
Comments are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, September 24. The commission is asking members of the bench, bar and public to assess applicants on judicial temperament, professional skills, ethics, commitment to diversity, leadership and communication, efficiency and organization, writing ability and community service.
A web-based survey is available through the commission, and written comments may also be submitted by mail, email or fax. The commission said submitted comments will remain in each applicant’s confidential file for two years and will not be publicly released or provided to the applicant. If comments are discussed with an applicant, the commenter’s identity will not be disclosed.
