WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department has established a juvenile curfew zone in Navy Yard for the final night of a weekend public-safety order, setting earlier limits on large youth gatherings in one of the city’s busiest entertainment corridors.
MPD said the zone is authorized under Mayor’s Order 2026-091, which allows the police chief to designate a juvenile curfew area for groups of at least nine young people in locations considered at risk for disorderly conduct by youth.
The Navy Yard zone is bounded by I-695 from South Capitol Street to 8th Street SE on the north, 8th Street from I-695 to the Anacostia River on the east, the Anacostia River on the south, and South Capitol Street SE from the river back to I-695 on the west.
The special curfew zone is in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12; Saturday, June 13; and Sunday, June 14, 2026. Within that window, people under 18 are prohibited from gathering in groups of nine or more in public places or on business premises unless they fall under listed exemptions.
MPD also reminded residents that the District’s citywide juvenile curfew remains in place for all people under 18 beginning nightly at 11:00 p.m. and continuing until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.
The department directed residents to its designated juvenile curfew zones webpage for maps and additional exemption details. The announcement comes as Navy Yard continues to draw large evening crowds around restaurants, nightlife, waterfront areas, and nearby transit connections.
