WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left a 31-year-old Maryland man dead Monday afternoon in Southeast Washington.
Seventh District officers were flagged down at approximately 3:45 p.m. in the 700 block of Southern Avenue SE for a report of a person down, according to an MPD release.
Officers found an adult man unconscious and not breathing with apparent gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS personnel responded and pronounced him dead at the scene after finding no signs consistent with life, police said.
MPD identified the victim as Reginald Lamont Dorsey, 31, of Waldorf, Maryland. The department did not announce an arrest or release a suspect description in its statement.
Anyone with information was asked not to take action, but to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD said it offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a District homicide.
