WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with a February shooting on Valley Avenue in Southeast Washington that left a man injured.
According to an official MPD release, Seventh District officers responded at approximately 12:28 p.m. on February 26 to a reported shooting in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue SE.
Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound that police described as non-life-threatening. D.C. Fire and EMS transported him to an area hospital for treatment.
MPD said members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 30-year-old Dyontae Taylor of Southeast Washington on August 20 pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant.
Taylor was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun, according to police. The case is identified as CCN 26025181.
The charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
