WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department announced Thursday that a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with an April shooting in Mount Pleasant that injured two people.
Police said Third District officers responded at approximately 7:20 p.m. on April 28 to the 3300 block of Mount Pleasant Street NW after receiving a report of gunfire. Officers found an adult man and a juvenile male conscious and breathing with apparent gunshot wounds.
D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported both victims to a hospital for treatment of injuries police described as non-life-threatening.
According to MPD, Third District detectives developed information that identified a suspect during the investigation. Police said the juvenile, who is from Southeast Washington, was arrested on August 20 under a D.C. Superior Court warrant.
The teenager was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun, MPD said. The charge is an allegation, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
MPD identified the case by CCN 26056757. The department’s full announcement is available in its official release.
