MPD Arrests Suspect in Columbia Road Armed Robbery

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a Northwest Washington man after an armed robbery at a business in the 1700 block of Columbia Road NW, according to an MPD release issued Tuesday.

Police said Third District officers responded at about 5:04 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, after a man entered the establishment and waited for an employee to open the cash register. The man allegedly displayed a knife, took money from the register and left before officers arrived.

During the on-scene investigation, detectives saw the alleged robber outside the business and arrested him, MPD said.

Andre Macray Seay, 41, of Northwest Washington, was charged with robbery while armed with a knife. A criminal charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

MPD identified the case as CCN 26114086. The department’s official release is available at mpdc.dc.gov.
