WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department announced a temporary street closure and parking restrictions Thursday for the 2026 Capitol View Library Back-to-School Bash.
From noon to 7 p.m. on August 13, 50th Street SE between Central Avenue and Ayers Place will be posted as emergency no parking and closed to vehicle traffic, according to MPD.
Vehicles parked in violation of the emergency signs may be ticketed and towed. Police said closure times may change if conditions require.
Motorists should expect possible delays near the event, consider alternate routes and use caution because of increased pedestrian traffic. MPD and the District Department of Transportation advised drivers to follow posted restrictions.
