WASHINGTON, D.C. — Registration for the District’s fall and school-year recreation programs will open at noon Tuesday for aquatics and at noon Wednesday for other activities, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation announced Monday.
Aquatics registration opens Aug. 11 and includes learn-to-swim classes, the DC Wave competitive swim team and aqua fitness. Registration for the rest of DPR’s fall offerings opens Aug. 12, including afterschool programs, cultural arts, team sports, fitness classes, cooperative play and adult enrichment.
DPR said a virtual waiting room will operate from 11:50 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. on both registration days to manage demand before registration begins at noon. Programs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and residents are encouraged to create an online account before the registration window opens.
The scheduled offerings include afterschool and out-of-school-time programs for children ages 6 to 13, teen programs, piano, ballet, guitar, theater and creative dance. Athletic options include gymnastics, cheer, soccer, pickleball, tackle football and the Senior Games, while fitness classes include boot camp, Zumba, cycling, yoga and senior fitness.
Noncompetitive registration for Senior Aquatic Bodywise and Senior YMCA programs opens at noon Thursday, Aug. 13. DPR also offers reduced rates to qualifying D.C. residents, though applicants must be approved before registering.
Residents can review the complete announcement and registration details through the official Mayor’s Office release. Program listings are available at DPRprograms.com.
