WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects accused of threatening an employee at a convenience store on Benning Road in Southeast Washington.
Police said the incident occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. on May 17 in the 4500 block of Benning Road SE. According to MPD, the two suspects entered the store, and an employee asked one of them to leave after the person brought a scooter inside.
The suspects then threatened the employee, police said. One of them allegedly displayed what the employee believed was a gun in a waistband. Both suspects left before officers arrived, and the employee was not injured.
MPD said nearby surveillance cameras captured one of the suspects. The department released its public appeal on Friday and advised anyone who recognizes the suspect not to approach but to call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
Police said a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in a crime committed in the District. The case number is 26066774.
