WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department has designated a Youth Curfew Zone in Columbia Heights for Friday and Saturday nights, covering an area bounded by Park Road, 11th Street, Euclid Street and 16th Street NW.
The zone will be active from 8 p.m. to midnight on August 7 and August 8. During those hours, people under 18 are prohibited from gathering in groups of nine or more in public places or on the premises of an establishment unless they are participating in an exempted activity, MPD said.
The designation was made under the Juvenile Curfew Act of 1995 as amended by the Youth Curfew Act of 2026. The law allows the police chief to establish a zone in an area considered at risk for disorderly conduct by groups of at least nine young people.
MPD identified the zone’s perimeter as Park Road NW between 11th and 16th streets, 11th Street NW between Park Road and Euclid Street, Euclid Street NW between 11th and 16th streets, and 16th Street NW between Park Road and Euclid Street.
The department also reminded residents that a separate citywide juvenile curfew remains in effect during July and August. That curfew applies to all people under 18 from 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m.
