WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a 58-year-old man after a Northwest Washington business was burglarized, the department announced Tuesday.
Police said Third District officers were called to the 2000 block of 11th Street NW at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. According to MPD, suspects damaged a door to enter the business and began taking items before a person inside startled them.
Third District detectives used investigative leads and security-camera footage to identify a suspect, MPD said. Officers spotted John Emerson Williams the following day and arrested him on a charge of second-degree burglary.
The investigation remains open. MPD asked anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411, and said a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest and indictment in a District crime.
