WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a residential burglary and threats reported on Acker Place NE.
Police said the incident occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, in the 600 block of Acker Place NE. According to MPD, the suspect knocked on a residence’s door and told the victim that his child was missing and he needed to use a phone.
As the victim went to retrieve a phone, the suspect allegedly pushed the door open, entered the home, took property and fled on foot, police said.
The victim chased the suspect, and a second person joined the pursuit. MPD said the suspect threatened to shoot the second person, prompting that person to stop pursuing him.
Investigators said security cameras captured the suspect. MPD advised anyone who recognizes him or has information about the case not to take action, but to call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. The department said it offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in a District crime.
The case is identified as CCN 26105425.
