WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department has announced parking restrictions and road closures tied to the funeral service for U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday, July 28.
Emergency no-parking restrictions remain in effect through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday on 17th Street from H Street to Pennsylvania Avenue NW, H Street from 17th Street to Vermont Avenue NW, and 16th Street from I Street to H Street NW. Additional no-parking zones near Wisconsin Avenue, Woodley Road, Cathedral Avenue, Garfield Street and surrounding streets are scheduled to remain in place until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Downtown closures through late Wednesday include Pennsylvania Avenue from 18th to 17th streets NW, 17th Street from New York Avenue to K Street NW, H Street from 18th Street to Vermont Avenue NW, and 16th Street from I Street to H Street NW.
MPD said several streets around Wisconsin Avenue and Woodley Road are closed to vehicle traffic until approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday. Nearby blocks, including portions of Woodland Drive, Cleveland Avenue, Cathedral Avenue, Klingle Road and 34th through 36th streets, are restricted to local traffic during the same period. Residents and employees who need access will be permitted through.
Police cautioned that closure times may change with conditions. Drivers should follow posted emergency no-parking signs, expect delays, watch for increased pedestrian traffic and consider alternate routes. Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be ticketed and towed.
