MPD Investigates Fatal Shooting on Valley Avenue SE

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left a 24-year-old Southeast Washington man dead Saturday night on Valley Avenue.

Seventh District officers were called to the 1200 block of Valley Avenue SE at approximately 9:48 p.m. on July 25 after a report of gunshots outside, according to an MPD release issued Monday. Officers found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. Police said the victim showed no signs consistent with life and was pronounced dead at the location. MPD identified him as Dayquan Miller of Southeast Washington.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to avoid taking action and instead call police at 202-727-9099 or send a text message to the department’s tip line at 50411. MPD said it offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in a District homicide case.

The case is being tracked under CCN 26104188. MPD did not announce an arrest or release a description of a suspect in its statement.
