WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a 19-year-old man after an exchange of gunfire near 17th and Euclid streets NW, where investigators recovered two firearms and found property damage but no injured victim.
Third District officers responded to reports of gunshots at about 1:23 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, according to an MPD release. Police said officers found evidence of a shooting at the intersection and began searching the area for suspects.
Officers located and arrested a suspect during the canvass. MPD identified him as Damari Bryant of Northeast Washington and said investigators determined that multiple people had exchanged gunfire.
Bryant was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, felony destruction of property, felony receiving stolen property, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device, possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
The investigation remains open. MPD asks anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text 50411. Police said a reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of others responsible for the offense.
