WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Thursday in Northeast Washington.
Fifth District officers responded at approximately 11:10 p.m. on July 16 to the 1400 block of Saratoga Avenue NE, according to an MPD news release. Officers found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound.
D.C. Fire and EMS personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead after finding no signs consistent with life. Police identified him as 43-year-old Darrius Coghill of Northeast Washington.
MPD had not announced an arrest or released suspect information in the statement. The department asked anyone with information to call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD said it offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a District homicide.
