MPD Establishes Temporary Youth Curfew Zone in Navy Yard for Holiday Weekend

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has established a temporary Youth Curfew Zone in the Navy Yard neighborhood to manage public safety during the holiday weekend, active from July 3 through July 5, 2026.

Authorized under the Youth Curfew Act of 2026, the local curfew will be in effect each night from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Within the designated zone, persons under the age of 18 are prohibited from gathering in groups of nine or more in any public space or commercial establishment, except for specific legally exempted activities.

Navy Yard Curfew Zone Boundaries:

  • North: I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway)
  • East: 8th Street, SE
  • South: Anacostia River
  • West: South Capitol Street, SE

MPD also reminds residents that during the months of July and August, the District’s standard citywide juvenile curfew is in effect daily for all individuals under 18 from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Detailed maps, rules, and exemptions are available on the police department’s portal.
