MPD Advises Drivers of Closures, No-Parking Zones for Great American State Fair

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is advising drivers about street closures and emergency no-parking restrictions tied to the Great American State Fair, which runs from Thursday, June 25, 2026, through Friday, July 10, 2026, in the District.

MPD said several streets that were already closed for the fair’s buildout will remain closed through the event and after it concludes on July 10 to allow for demobilization. Those streets are Madison Drive from 3rd Street to 14th Street, NW; Jefferson Drive from 3rd Street to 14th Street, SW; 12th Street from Madison Drive to Constitution Avenue, NW; and 12th Street from Jefferson Drive to Independence Avenue, SW.

From Wednesday, June 24, 2026, through Sunday, July 11, 2026, emergency no-parking restrictions will be posted on 7th Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW; 4th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW; Constitution Avenue from 14th Street to 3rd Street, NW; and Independence Avenue from 14th Street to 3rd Street, SW.

MPD also said that from June 24 through July 11, 7th Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW, and 4th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW, will be closed to vehicle traffic. Pedestrians will still be allowed to move north and south, but they will be required to undergo security screening.

For people trying to get from one side of the National Mall to the other without entering the security perimeter, police said they should use 3rd Street or 14th Street. MPD said organizers have been in communication with entities requiring access to the streets that will stay closed during the fair and demobilization period.

In addition, from Thursday, June 25, 2026, through Friday, July 10, 2026, 14th Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW, as well as Constitution Avenue from 14th Street to 3rd Street, NW, and Independence Avenue from 14th Street to 3rd Street, SW, may be closed intermittently for public safety.

Police warned that all vehicles parked in violation of posted emergency no-parking signs will be ticketed and towed. MPD added that all street closures and listed times are subject to change based on prevailing or unexpected conditions.

Officials said motorists should expect possible delays in the area, consider alternative routes and use caution because increased pedestrian traffic is anticipated. For timely traffic information, MPD directed the public to x.com/DCPoliceTraffic.
