MPD Advises Drivers of Downtown Closures for Wednesday Special Event

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is advising drivers about parking restrictions and road closures scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2026, because of a special event in the District of Columbia.

Emergency no-parking restrictions will be in effect from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Constitution Avenue from 15th Street to 7th Street NW, according to MPD.

Police said vehicular closures are expected from approximately 6:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 14th Street from Constitution Avenue NW to Independence Avenue SW and on the 12th Street Expressway.

The department said 7th Street from Constitution Avenue NW to Independence Avenue SW may also close intermittently to vehicle traffic for public safety.

All listed times and closures are subject to change based on prevailing or unexpected conditions, MPD said. Vehicles parked in violation of posted emergency no-parking signs will be ticketed and towed.

Motorists traveling near the event may encounter delays and may want to consider alternative routes. MPD and the District Department of Transportation also reminded drivers to use caution because increased pedestrian traffic can be expected. Police directed residents to x.com/DCPoliceTraffic for timely traffic information.
