WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police are investigating a fatal shooting early Sunday on E Street SE that left one man dead and another person injured, according to a department release.
MPD said Sixth District officers were called at about 3:21 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, to the 5300 block of E Street SE for a report of a shooting. Officers found an adult male in a parking lot who was unconscious, not breathing, and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Andre Herndon of Alexandria, Virginia.
During an immediate canvass, officers also found a second adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported that victim to a local hospital with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.
The department listed the case under CCN 26081668 and asked anyone with information not to take action themselves, but to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
MPD said it offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in each homicide committed in the District. The department’s June 14 release did not announce an arrest in the case.
