MPD Investigates Fatal Shooting of 18-Year-Old on K Street SE

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman in Southeast Washington.

First District officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1100 block of K Street SE at approximately 5:26 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, according to an MPD release.

Officers found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and pronounced her dead after finding no signs consistent with life, police said.

MPD identified the victim as Daremiah Banks, 18, of Northwest Washington. The case is listed under CCN 26111518.

Police asked anyone with information not to take action but to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD said it offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a District homicide.
