WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department announced an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday evening in Northwest Washington.
Second District officers responded at about 7:58 p.m. Aug. 5 to the 2500 block of 41st Street NW after a report of gunfire, according to an official MPD release. Officers found an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds.
D.C. Fire and EMS personnel responded, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as 35-year-old Bobby Lee Cannon of Southeast Washington.
Officers detained a suspect at the scene. MPD said detectives later arrested 21-year-old Jeremiah Greene of Alexandria, Virginia, on a charge of first-degree murder while armed. A criminal charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Police said detectives determined that the incident had domestic overtones and that the people involved knew one another. MPD listed the case under CCN 26109785.
