WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects accused of assaulting a man during an attempted robbery in Southeast Washington.
MPD said the incident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, in the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue SE. According to police, the two suspects approached the victim and demanded money.
The victim did not comply and ran into a nearby store, police said. The suspects allegedly followed him inside, assaulted him and attempted to take his property before fleeing prior to officers’ arrival.
Police said nearby surveillance cameras captured the suspects. Anyone who can identify them or has information about the incident is asked not to take action, but to call MPD at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD said a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest and indictment in a violent crime case.
