WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting after a 22-year-old man died from injuries sustained last week on Dix Street in Northeast Washington.
Sixth District officers responded to the 6200 block of Dix Street NE at approximately 5:58 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, following a report of a shooting. Police said officers found a man who was unconscious but breathing and suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. MPD said he died at the hospital on Friday, July 31, despite efforts to save his life.
Police identified the victim as Jamari Millet, 22, of Southeast Washington. The case is being tracked under CCN 26105506.
MPD asked anyone with information about the shooting not to take action but to call police at (202) 727-9099 or submit a text tip to 50411. The department offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a District homicide.
