WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with a series of tire slashings that damaged 10 vehicles in Northwest Washington.
MPD said the destruction-of-property offenses occurred between July 6 and July 8 in the Second District. Police listed five incidents: two in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW and one each in the 3200 block of Cherry Hill Lane NW, the 3300 block of Cady’s Alley NW and the 1700 block of 35th Street NW.
According to the department, National Guard service members familiar with the cases spotted the suspect on July 9 and notified Second District officers, who made the arrest.
MPD identified the arrested man as Marcel Mathew Brannum, of no fixed address. Detectives charged him with five felony counts of destruction of property. Charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The department credited the National Guard members with helping officers locate the suspect.
