WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested two suspects after an armed robbery in Southeast Washington on Friday night, according to an official department release.

Police said two suspects approached victims in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, Southeast, at approximately 9:15 p.m. on July 10. The suspects allegedly displayed firearms, demanded money and took money from one victim.

Responding officers apprehended the suspects before they could leave the scene, MPD said. Jonathan Johnson, 22, of Northeast Washington, and Laron Plowden, 24, of Southeast Washington, were each arrested and charged with armed robbery involving a gun.

MPD said Plowden also faces an armed robbery charge connected to another offense. The department said the case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information was asked not to take action but to call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a violent crime committed in the District.
