MPD Details Street Closures and Parking Restrictions for Great American State Fair

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has released a detailed traffic advisory outlining temporary street closures and emergency parking restrictions in effect for the Great American State Fair, running through July 10, 2026.

The fair is part of the District’s summer celebration for the nation’s 250th anniversary, drawing large crowds to the areas surrounding the National Mall. To accommodate the event and ensure public safety, select traffic modifications will remain active for the duration of the event and subsequent demobilization.

Key Traffic and Parking Restrictions:

  • Street Closures: Key segments near the National Mall are closed to vehicle traffic. Intermittent safety closures are scheduled on portions of 14th Street, Constitution Avenue, and Independence Avenue.
  • Emergency No Parking: Special parking restrictions are posted on portions of 7th Street, 4th Street, Constitution Avenue, and Independence Avenue. Vehicles parked in designated “Emergency No Parking” zones will be towed.

With high volumes of pedestrian traffic expected near the National Mall and ongoing security screening in place, visitors are highly encouraged to utilize public transit options such as the Metrorail. Drivers should plan alternate routes and expect delays near the event perimeter.
