WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for eight puppies that were taken during a burglary in Southeast Washington, according to an official release posted Monday.
Police said the burglary happened on Sunday, June 28, 2026, between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the 4900 block of Benning Road SE. Investigators said a suspect forcibly entered an unoccupied residence during that time.
According to MPD, the suspect took eight five-week-old pitbull puppies and fled the scene. The department included photos of the puppies with its release.
Anyone with information is asked to take no action and call police at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411. MPD said it is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or people responsible for a crime committed in the District.
