WASHINGTON, D.C. — The District is marking the 10th annual 202Creates Month with September events celebrating local artists and Washington’s creative economy.
The monthlong program spans music, film, fashion, food, theater, visual arts and entrepreneurship, according to an official Mayor/DC release. The initiative began in 2016 and has since expanded into a year-round platform for creators, businesses and cultural institutions.
Among the major events is Art All Night on Sept. 11 and 12. The two-night festival, which attracted more than 250,000 attendees last year, will bring visual art, live music, dance, film, fashion and interactive experiences to neighborhoods in all eight wards.
The schedule also includes the DC Jazz Festival from Sept. 2 through 6, Dine All Night from Sept. 10 through 13, the H Street Festival on Sept. 19, Theatre Week from Sept. 24 through Oct. 11, DC Fashion Week from Sept. 25 through 27 and Fiesta DC on Sept. 26 and 27.
City officials value the District’s creative economy at $15 billion. They said film and television rebates awarded from fiscal 2016 through fiscal 2025 generated $232.3 million in spending impact, more than $14 in economic activity for every rebate dollar, as well as 2,071 D.C. resident hires and $8.9 million in resident compensation.
The District will also host the free second annual 202Creates Con on Sept. 28, featuring discussions, performances, networking and other programming for the local creative community. A full event list is available through the official 202Creates Month website linked from the city release.
